sort your trash
The place that takes your trash has to sort and weigh what they collect to plan for what to do with it all. Do you know how much waste you create at home or at school? Conduct a waste audit and make a plan for reducing the amount of trash. Gather a pencil, piece of paper, and scale if you have one.
1. With an adult, gather all of the trash and recycling you use in a day. Then use the scale to weigh each bag. Write down the total weight. If you don't have a scale, write down how many bags or bins you fill.
2. Make a plan to reduce waste and increase the amount of recycling. Keep measuring your trash each day to find out how much of a difference you are making.
